A recent increase in sexual assaults near Harvard Square has prompted police officials to issue a warning to advise women who work and live in the area to be on alert. The most recent in this string of assaults took place on Tuesday night at approximately 8:30 PM. A woman reported that she was indecently assaulted by a man near the intersection of Garden Street and Massachusetts Avenue, stating that the unidentified male bumped into her shoulder before he proceeded to grab her buttocks. When she confronted the man, he fled on foot.

The woman attacked on Tuesday night has stated that the man who assaulted her was a black male in his 20’s, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with a stocky build and short hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt at the time of the assault. Police have indicated that prior assaults resulted in a similar description of the suspect in question but that they are unsure if the assaults are related. In previous instances, such as the indecent assault that took place on August 30th, police have apprehended suspects in relation to these crimes. The suspect who assaulted the woman on Tuesday night near Harvard Square has yet to be detained by police.

Cambridge Police have been working closely with the Harvard University Police department in an effort to increase awareness and offer extended protection to women who live and work in the area where the assaults have taken place. Additional assaults have been reported by individuals near Garden and Brattle Streets, as well as along Massachusetts Avenue. Cambridge Police have arrested three different individuals in connection to a few of these crimes, but their investigation into further matters is still ongoing. According the release issued by the department, they have stated that they are “cautioning women who live, work or frequent the Harvard Square area to be aware of [the] recent increase…” Harvard University has offered extended shuttle hours to their students, and Cambridge Police have added additional patrols to the Harvard Square area in an effort to maintain a high level of safety.

Okay, Sam, you have told us that there is a lot of pressure on the Police Department and other authorities to solve the problem of the multiple shootings from the other night. What what opportunities are you talking about? does that have to do with me?

Well, let’s start with what I have referred to as “good” opportunities.

We have many times discussed the fact that, often, when law-enforcement is trying to build a case, it accepts the word of those who, just the day before, it probably would have preferred see behind bars for the rest of his or her natural life.

Sometimes to a ridiculous extent. But I digress.

Busy night last night in the greater Boston area…in terms of shootings.

At last count, five deaths took place. Others were left wounded.

WBUR and WBZ   told me the news earlier this morning.

There were shootings at 12 Ernst Street in Roxbury. Two died earlier this morning. One neighbor told WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Karen Twomey that the suspect in Roxbury “just came up and started shooting.” Boston police believe the victims in Roxbury were targeted and that the shooting was gang-related.

Alejandro Done, 46, hereinafter, the “Defendant” was in Charlestown District Court this morning. He was arraigned on a rape charge stemming from a July 29, 2006, sexual assault on a woman near Moakley Park.

He remains in custody, held without bail, as the Commonwealth intends to have a dangerousness hearing to show that he should continue to be so held. Said hearing is currently scheduled for July 27th.

This Thursday, the Defendant will be arraigned on charges involving a July 29, 2007, attack along the Esplanade.

You might think that this is bad enough. However, in addition to the summer attacks of 2006 and 2007, law enforcement indicates that the Defendant will be charged with at least three other summertime attacks. These are alleged to have occurred on June 16, 2007, July 13-14, 2009 and June 13, 2010.

Multiple news agencies are reporting that a suspect has been placed into custody following a string of serious sexual assaults that have taken place at Boston’s esplanade over a period of about nine years or so. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released to the public, has apparently been in police custody since this past December. The cause behind this course of action has not been made immediately available, but it can be assumed that law enforcement officials deemed it to be a necessary course of action based off of the man’s extensive history of sexual assault.

The unnamed suspect had been placed into police custody following a specific sexual assault that took place in December 2014. The man had been accused of raping a Cambridge woman, who has also not been identified at the current moment. The man in question allegedly used to be an Uber driver prior to this incident—and this form of employment is actually what led him to come in contact with the female from Cambridge he is accused of assaulting. According to initial reports, the woman contacted the suspect for an Uber ride to an exact destination she needed to reach. When the man picked her up however, he drove her off to a remote location in a secluded area instead and proceeded to sexually assault the victim inside of his car. The man also locked the doors of the vehicle at this time, preventing the woman from trying to escape. The suspect has officially been charged in relation to this particular assault, although the severity of the charges he faces is unknown. Continue reading

Well, how was your weekend?

If one reads the Boston Herald about the news this past weekend, one might walk away with a bit of a sickened feeling…and a desire to avoid parties and other places where kids might be.

Let’s first turn to Springfield.

The Herald tells us about two men stabbed at a house party early Saturday. Police Lt. Richard LaBelle said that one of the men had serious stab wounds and had been rushed to Bay state Medical Center. He was in “stable condition” at the time of the story. The second man stabbed had non-life threatening injuries.

The incicdent apparently took place on Manhattan Street at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The men were found outside by police. One was in a car, and the second was lying on the ground.

Well, the jury came back in Worcester’s trial of The Commonwealth versus Raymond Grenier
(hereinafter, the “Defendant”). The verdict…on the remaining charges…was guilty. Guilty of assaulting a sex worker (prostitute) as well as trespass.

The allegations came from a June 15, 2014 incident in a Sutton cornfield.

According to said sex worker, she was working as a prostitute in the Main South section of Worcester when the Defendant picked her up around 3 a.m. She said he agreed to pay her for oral sex and he drove her to the Sutton cornfield in Sutton.

She testified that, “I told him I wanted my money first … and he wouldn’t give it to me…He said he’d give it to me when he was ready. I said, ‘you’re going to bring me home right now.’ He proceeded to get very angry.” She claimed that the Defendant then punched her on the left side of her head and then punched her again in the ribs. She said he then pushed her out of the truck and she fell onto the ground.
